Mindmapping

To start, I began by mind mapping things I’m passionate and curious about. Honestly, I had a pretty good idea of the answer before I even began—the thing I’m most drawn to is clothes. Fashion has always been something I’ve loved, and going through the mind map just helped me see how central it is to everything I’m thinking about.

I decided to write down what issues people faced whilst shopping to see if it would spark some ideas for the pitch.

I realised I went overboard with too many ideas, and I’ve come to the conclusion that I can’t do everything. If I try to tackle too many things at once, the brand will lose its unique selling point and won’t specialise in anything, which could ultimately lead to its failure. I now understand that it’s better to focus on being the best in one specific area. Specialisation is key to creating a strong, successful brand, and I’m more excited to build something focused and impactful rather than spreading myself too thin.

Official Concept

My idea is to create an app that functions as a built-in closet organiser, helping users plan their outfits and remove the stress of choosing what to wear. The app would not only simplify the daily outfit selection process but also encourage sustainable fashion by reducing overconsumption. By offering personalised stylist advice, the app will help users make the most of their existing wardrobe, promoting confidence while minimising the need for new clothes. The goal is to help users feel more confident in their style, all while contributing to a more mindful and eco-friendly approach to fashion.

I’m so excited to develop this project further as fashion is something i love dearly, i’m so happy that i get to combine my two passions in life. My love for clothes and styling, and user experience design- i’m solving a problem that I- and so many others experience daily.

SWOT Analysis

I completed a SWOT analysis on my idea, and I found it really helpful in assessing how strong the concept is. Some of the weaknesses I identified include the challenge of getting users to consistently engage with the app and whether people would be willing to pay for professional styling advice. Threats come from other apps on the market that offer similar features, which means I need to find ways to differentiate my app.On the positive side, there are definitely some strengths. A lot of people are passionate about fashion and appreciate anything that makes their lives simpler, so there’s a strong market for it. Additionally, there are plenty of opportunities for growth. The app could expand by introducing new features, collaborating with fashion influencers or celebrities for style advice, and potentially evolving into a digital wardrobe that users could integrate into their own spaces.

.Overall, doing this analysis gave me a clearer picture of the challenges and opportunities ahead, and I’m excited about the potential of this idea.
