This semester has been a transformative experience for me. I’ve started to look at content differently, gaining new perspectives that have enriched my understanding of design and user experience.
I’ve learned a lot about fundamental UX approaches, and i genuinely feel like i’m becoming a UX designer. These practices have become a part of how i think, and i’m excited to carry them forward into next semester and future projects.
I believe I’ve made significant progress in my visual design work this semester. I’ve challenged myself to take on longer, more complex projects than i’ve ever attempted before, and it’s been rewarding to see the results.
This semester marked a turning point for me in terms of scale and ambition. The projects I tackled were my biggest yet, especially in terms of prototyping. Creating more screens and interactions than I did last year pushed me to refine my workflow and think more critically about user journeys.
I thoroughly enjoyed working on the smartwatch project. It was incredibly rewarding to address a problem I’ve personally encountered, and using research to guide my design decisions was a nice change. It was a refreshing shift to focus on functionality alongside aesthetics, rather than just creating visuals—though I still have a deep passion for visual design.
This project however, was a struggle for me. The subject matter didn’t resonate with me, and i found it challenging to wrap my head around the numerous features and considerations involved. Normally, I don’t mind working on topics outside my interests, but this time, I felt disconnected and unable to fully engage with it.
In contrast, I absolutely loved the SDG project. I pushed myself visually, and I believe it’s my best design work to date. Despite initially having no interest in the topic, I decided to embrace the challenge, and it paid off. I learned something new and grew as a designer.
