Looking back, I do feel that I neglected this class a little more than I should have, and I wish I had made more time to work on it throughout the semester.
That being said, when it came to the actual classes, I really appreciated how varied they were. The topics we covered were genuinely interesting — and I loved the change of pace when we went to see the Alex McDowell talk. It was refreshing to get out of the classroom and hear someone from a creative industry talk about storytelling and designing for future worlds. The prototyping sessions were also super helpful for me. Prototyping has always been one of my weaker areas, and before this class, I hadn’t even heard of some of the programs we used. It was great to get some hands-on experience with new tools that I can now add to my skillset.
In terms of my project, I honestly loved the idea from the beginning. As someone who is really interested in interior design, working on my project didn’t even feel like “work” most of the time — it felt exciting. I'm really happy with how it turned out overall, although part of me wishes I had pushed the idea even further and thought even more "out of the box." Still, it was a project I genuinely enjoyed and felt connected to, which made a big difference.
This semester was also the first time I properly conducted user interviews and usability tests. It made the whole process feel so much more real — for the first time, I actually felt like a UX designer in action, not just a student.
One thing I definitely need to keep working on is balancing different classes and workloads. Even though I know this class was weighted differently, I found myself putting a lot more energy into the other module, and this one got neglected a little as a result. It’s something I really want to improve on — learning how to manage my time and attention better across multiple projects.
Overall, though, I really enjoyed this semester. The topics we explored were fascinating, and I loved that everything felt speculative and future-focused. It’s exciting to be thinking about where design is heading, and this semester definitely opened my mind to new ideas and possibilities.
