Our first project of the semester was to create a type specimen screen based on the fonts we had to choose from. I chose Bodoni as it’s a timeless font and it’s heavily used in the fashion industry, as fashion is something i’m enthusiastic about, I thought this font would be perfect for me.

My initial sketches for the project

I drew some of my sketches up in Figma and I didn’t like how they turned out as I felt they were quite boring.

I took the ampersand sketch I created and expanded on it because I liked the unique shape it has and I felt there was a lot I could do with it.

I also started to use the colour red as i thought it was rich looking which I think suits the font. I was inspired by the rebranding Langosteria, a restaurant and bistro located across Europe.

As well as this, ‘Cherry Red’ is currently the colour of the season in Fashion, since Bodoni is the typeface of many of these brands, i think it would be nice to incorporate the trendiest colour of the season into my poster.
