In this weeks class, we had to showcase our three chosen designs and we received feedback from Dr Boyd and our peers.
As ‘Bodoni’ is prominently used in the Fashion industry, I wanted my designs to reflect that.
These were the designs I presented:
I personally love this design as I think the movement in it is quite interesting. I also wanted to incorporate a fun artistic style to my type specimen screen as I think it’s unique, I like how the quotation marks resemble polkadots and cherries, something that you would see on a pattern for a piece of clothing, a collection’s theme, or even just the general banding of a brand. However, Dr Boyd said that my other designs were better.
I think this design is worth an honourable mention as I was very torn on which of these designs to choose from for this critique as they’re so similar yet so different. I like how this one is a bit more broken up compared to the other one. I really love this design as well and I may continue working on it.
For this design, Dr Boyd suggested to remove the white letters in the ‘B’ and to leave space around the ‘B’ so that it can emphasise the letter. I agree with his suggestions, as this is my least favourite out of the three.
