In this weeks lecture, we looked at International style and it’s impact on design.
The Swiss typographic style originated in Switzerland and resembles a mathematical grid of lateral and horizontal lines. It’s layout is legible and logical with an emphasis on grids and structure. Text is usually aligned to the left and an unstructured, ragged appearance on the right, depending on the length of the word and size and style of text used.
Armin Hoffmann’s work is clear and consice. It’s structure and pattern is easy to see and understand to the viewer. I like his work because of its simplicity in conveying its message clearly.
Emil Ruder’s work is linear, clear and compact yet complicated at the same time which is something I admire.
Josef- Muller Brockmann’s work is contemporary with a retro feel using primary colours. I really like the bold impact they make which is very eye-catching.
