Sketches

I began the design process by sketching out a range of potential layouts for my app. At this stage, my main priority was clarity and ease of use — I wanted to create an experience that felt intuitive and accessible for students right from the first interaction. Through sketching, I was able to quickly explore different ideas for structure, navigation, and user flow without getting caught up in fine visual details. This allowed me to focus on the bigger picture: how users would move through the app, find what they needed, and feel supported at each step. By keeping the layouts simple and student-centred, I set a strong foundation for a design that would ultimately align with Poco’s overall goal — helping users overcome procrastination without feeling overwhelmed or judged.

Low Fidelity Wireframes

After completing my initial sketches, I moved into Figma to create my low fidelity wireframes. As I started laying everything out digitally, I made some adjustments — particularly to the way the app presents the user’s workload. Originally, the layout felt a little clunky and overwhelming, so I reworked it to make the information flow more clearly and feel more intuitive.

This stage was really valuable because it gave me the chance to spot areas for improvement early on. I focused on keeping the structure simple and user-friendly, staying aligned with Poco’s brand values.

High Fidelity

After I was satisfied with my low-fidelity wireframes, I moved on to developing them into high-fidelity designs. This stage involved bringing in the branding, colour palette, typography, and other visual elements, which really helped the app feel more polished and cohesive. I thought it would be helpful to break down each section of the app here to explain the key features and design decisions in more detail.

Onboarding

For the onboarding experience, I wanted to create a welcoming and reassuring first impression that reflected the brand’s tone of voice: gentle, supportive, and motivating.

Since onboarding is such a critical part of user experience, I designed it carefully to ensure users would feel at ease.
